Man charged over Brighton Sainsbury's bomb hoax threat

A man has been charged with making a hoax bomb threat at a Sainsbury's supermarket in Brighton.

The 45-year-old unemployed man was charged following a five-and-a-half hour standoff in the store in Lewes Road on Monday.

Armed police were called following reports of a man who had locked himself in the toilets, claiming to have a gun and a bomb.

The man who was charged will appear at Brighton Magistrates' Court later.
