Teenager seriously injured in Uckfield school assault

A teenage boy has suffered a fractured skull in an incident involving another pupil at an East Sussex school.

Police were called to Uckfield Community Technology College to reports of an incident in the sports area just after 13:30 BST on Monday.

They were told a 15-year-old boy, from Hartfield, had been hit in the face and had fallen to the ground.

A 15-year old boy from Uckfield was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and later bailed.

The injured boy is being treated for serious head injuries at Kings College Hospital in south London.

Sussex Police said he was conscious and recovering from his injuries.
