Man injured during street attack in Brighton

A man suffered head injuries when he was assaulted in Brighton.

The 31-year-old was attacked at about 08:35 BST on Sunday in Tongdean Lane by a man known to him, according to police.

Sussex Police said a blunt weapon may have been used in the attack, although no weapon had been found at the scene.

A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and bailed until 8 August.

Det Sgt Helen Paine said: "It appears that the victim knew his attacker and the pair had a verbal altercation prior to the incident in Tongdean Lane.

"We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or has information about how it started."
