Man beaten with pole in Chichester service station robbery

A 20-year-old was beaten about the head when thousands of pounds were stolen during a robbery at a service station near Chichester in West Sussex.

Police were called to Nutbourne service station at about 21:50 BST on Sunday after reports that a member of staff was being attacked with a pole.

Cash bags containing several thousand pounds were then taken from the safe by the balaclava-wearing robber.

The victim suffered concussion and a dislocated shoulder in the attack.

He remains in hospital in a stable condition.
