Sword found after Brighton attack on man

A sword believed to have been used to attack a man, almost severing his ear, has been found by Sussex Police.

The 2ft long blade, with a white ornamental handle, was found among some builders' materials on the Lower Esplanade in Brighton.

Officers think it was used nearly two weeks ago in an attack on the seafront in the early hours of the morning.

A 19-year-old man from London was arrested and bailed on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

Appealing for witnesses, police said the injured man was attacked in the street on 16 June just before 04:30 BST between the Concorde Club and Legends Club.

He was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton and released after treatment.
