Police officer dies in motorcycle crash near Ditchling

An off-duty Sussex police officer has been killed in a crash involving his motorcycle and two other vehicles.

Neil Crouch, 44, from Scaynes Hill, died at the scene of the collision, on the B2112 near Ditchling, at just after 13:45 on Tuesday.

Mr Crouch had been stationed at Gatwick Airport since June 2010.

The occupants of a Ford Focus and Daihatsu Charade were not injured. Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact Sussex Police.

A Sussex Police spokesman said Mr Crouch joined the force in 1987 at the age of 19 and was posted to Crowborough where he worked until 2000.

He then moved to the communications department at Haywards Heath until his move to Gatwick.
