Drink-drive police arrest first man stopped in Brighton

The very first motorist stopped in Sussex Police's latest drink-drive campaign provided a positive breath test, officers have claimed.

The Lewes man was stopped at 08:15 BST on Saturday in Preston Road, Brighton.

Insp Carl Knapp said: "It's not unusual for motorists to be driving on the morning after drinking and not realise that they are still over the limit.

"A positive breath test on the very first motorist did come as a bit of surprise to the arresting officer."

The 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving with excess alcohol.
