A second man has been arrested by police investigating the rape of a woman in a cemetery in West Sussex.

The victim, in her 20s, was attacked at Mount Noddy Cemetery, on a path between Moat Road and Badgers Way in East Grinstead, at 02:00 BST on Saturday.

Two passers-by intervened and were threatened by the rapist, who then ran off, officers said.

The arrest of a 27-year-old local man follows the release without charge of a 23-year-old man on Sunday afternoon.

Police have appealed for anyone who was in the area at the time to contact them, and patrols have been stepped up.

The suspect was described as white, aged in his early 20s, and was wearing a grey and white striped hooded top.
