Appeal to partygoers after cat injured in St Leonards

A party at an address in East Sussex last month could hold the clue to serious injuries suffered by a cat.

The pet was found semi-conscious, with a broken jaw and a severely swollen face, by its owner in Albany Road, St Leonards at about 21:00 BST on 18 July.

Vets believe its injuries were caused in a "malicious attack" and not by a vehicle or another animal, and that it could have been thrown from a height.

Police have appealed for information from party guests or neighbours.

A spokesman said the owner was so upset that she did not report the incident until several weeks later.

The cat is now recovering from its injuries.
