Bexhill fatal crash teenager named as Ricky Atkins

A man who died when the car he was travelling in hit a parked van in East Sussex has been named by police.

Ricky Atkins, 19, of London Road, Bexhill, died at the Conquest Hospital in Hastings after the crash in Holliers Hill on Thursday.

His family said in a tribute he was a loving brother and son and they would "carry him in our hearts forever".

A 19-year-old man from Battle has been charged with a series of offences and remanded in custody by magistrates.

He is charged with causing death by driving without a licence, causing death by driving without insurance and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

"Ricky was a kind-hearted boy who loved his family and friends dearly," his family said.

Sussex Police have renewed their appeal for witnesses.
