Stabbed wife of Polegate councillor Joseph O'Riordan 'stable'

The wife of an East Sussex town councillor, who was left fighting for her life after being found with stab wounds, is now in a stable condition.

Amanda Riordan, 47, was found with serious injuries on 23 October at a flat in Guardian Court, Brookside Avenue, Polegate.

Her husband, Polegate councillor Joseph O'Riordan, 73, has been charged with attempted murder.

He is due to appear at Lewes Crown Court on 6 November.

Sussex Police said Mrs Riordan was in a stable condition at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.
