A driver caught using his mobile phone at the wheel while more than three times over the drink-drive limit has failed to appear before a court.

An arrest warrant has been issued for 30-year-old Tarik Girgin, of Durham Hill, in Bromley, south-east London.

He was arrested on the A259 Bexhill Road, near Hastings, and had been due before local magistrates on Tuesday.

He was convicted in his absence of drink-driving, driving without an MOT and licence, and using a mobile phone.

Sussex Police has urged anyone who knows where he is to contact them.
