Plain-clothes officer knocked down in Horsham

A plain-clothes police officer was knocked down by a car as he tried to talk to the driver, police said.

Sussex Police said the 59-year-old officer was taken to hospital after the incident in the Swan Walk car park in Horsham town centre on Saturday.

The force said he approached the car but it drove away and he was knocked to the ground at about 12:15 GMT.

The officer was kept in hospital for a full assessment, but his condition is not thought to be serious.
