Two men 'bundled girl into car' in Middlesbrough

Police are carrying out house-to-house inquiries in Middlesbrough following a report that a young girl was bundled into a car by two men.

Two 11-year-old boys said they saw a girl, aged six or seven, being put into the back of a silver car in Corporation Road at lunchtime.

A spokeswoman said circumstances were unclear but officers were following all possible lines of inquiry.

The girl is described as having blonde or light brown hair in a ponytail.

She was wearing a white top and blue jeans.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said that those involved may have been someone known to the girl, or a parent who was telling off their child.

Anyone who thinks the sighting may have been of them, or who was in silver car in the area at about 1315 BST, is asked to get in touch.
