Noise clue in Stockton newsagent burglary

Police have appealed for the help of people in tracking down "noisy" burglars who stole a large amount of cash from a Stockton newsagents.

Gill's News, in Upsall Grove, Stockton, was targeted early on Sunday afternoon or early on Monday, and £17,000 taken.

It is believed that grinding equipment was used during the robbery, which would have made a lot of noise over a period of time.

Anyone who heard or saw anything suspicious is asked to contact police.

Officers believe that at least two people were involved and they would have used a vehicle to travel to and from the scene because of the weight of equipment used.

A white Renault Kangoo van, which is thought to have been used by the thieves, was found abandoned in Lauder Close.
