Durham Tees Valley Airport is still closed despite a major operation to clear the snow.

Flights from the airport were suspended on Wednesday and work to clear it has been going on overnight.

More than 100 schools in Middlesbrough, Stockton, Hartlepool, Redcar and Cleveland and Darlington were closed.

The A66 at Bowes was closed again and hazardous driving conditions were reported on a number of roads with police urging drivers to take care.

Passengers planning to travel from the airport were advised to check with their airlines.

Cleveland Police urged people to clear their cars fully of snow and ice before setting off.
