Cumbrian park regeneration plan given £1.1m

Plans to redevelop a Cumbrian park have been given a £1.1m boost.
The project at The Green, in Silloth, has been given the cash as part of the Parks for People scheme funded by the Big Lottery and Heritage Lottery funds.
The work will see the reinstatement of some of the park's historic features, including a Victorian pagoda, rose garden and Edwardian toilets.
The scheme will also see the installation of Victorian-style lighting and a water play area.
A spokesman for Parks for People said: "All proposals respect The Green's heritage and traditional ambience.
"There will be sculptures, a nature trail and new shelters, seats and bins.
"Unsightly features such as a maintenance yard and recycling centre will be taken out to increase the natural beauty of the area."
Work is hoped to start in the new year.
