Knifeman threatened worker at shop in Grangetown

A robber armed with a knife who stole cash from a store is being sought by police on Teesside.

The man climbed over the counter at Devine Newsagents in Grangetown while a staff member was in a back room, and attempted to force open the till.

When confronted with the female worker he threatened her with a knife before escaping with a quantity of cash.

A Cleveland Police spokesman said it was a "particularly nasty incident which left the victim traumatised".

They appealed for anyone with information about the robbery at about 1700 GMT on Tuesday to contact them.

The offender is described as being aged in his 20s, about 5ft 11in tall and with a local accent.
