Man with swine flu dies in Hartlepool hospital

A 21-year-old man with swine flu has died in hospital in Hartlepool.

John Walsh, from Stockton, was admitted to The University Hospital of Hartlepool but died there on Sunday.

North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust confirmed Mr Walsh had died but no further details have been released.

In figures released on 30 December, the Health Protection Agency said 39 people in the UK had died with flu-like illnesses this winter.

All but three of them were infected with the H1N1 swine flu virus, while the remainder had influenza B.
