Two men attempted to rob a shop on Teesside with a replica gun, police said.

It happened at a shop in Lister Street, Hartlepool, on Monday at 1550 GMT.

The men entered the shop and pointed what police believe was a replica gun. They fled towards Elwick Road and Osborne Road when staff raised the alarm.

There were no customers in the shop at the time and nothing was taken. Police are appealing for witnesses.

The two men are described as white, aged between 18 and 20 and between 5ft 6in and 5ft 8in tall. Both had short brown hair.

One man was wearing black tracksuit bottoms and a black tracksuit top. The other was wearing a white top, dark trousers and work boots.
