House blaze in town was 'arson'

A fire at a house in Darlington is being treated as arson, police say.

A wooden garden shed at the rear of a house in Thompson Street West was set on fire on Wednesday.

The fire spread to the house causing extensive fire and smoke damage to the windows and roof.

A 19-year-old man in the house at the time was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital suffering from smoke inhalation but has since been released. Police are appealing for witnesses.
