Controlled explosion on Middlesbrough package


A controlled explosion was carried out on a suspicious package found in Middlesbrough.

Police were called out after the package was found next to the town hall at 1415 GMT.

A 140m (459ft) cordon was set up around the scene with a stretch of Albert Road closed.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said after the explosion the contents of the package were examined and found to be non-suspicious.
