Thornaby train passengers to get free books


Train passengers are to to be given free books as part of a campaign to promote libraries.

Stockton Library is currently undergoing a £1.9m refurbishment and many old volumes are being cleared out to make way for new stock.

To try to get more people interested in reading, library staff will hand out books at Thornaby Station on 3 March.

A temporary library will open in Wellington Square in Stockton on Monday while the library is being refurbished.
