Cars damaged by missiles thrown from Teesside bridge

Police have warned of the dangers of throwing missiles at moving vehicles following a number of incidents at the same location on Teesside.

During February and March there were seven reports of cars being damaged on the A174 Parkway underneath the bridge near Marton Country Club.

In all cases, which were during the evening, a group of about four youths was spotted on the bridge.

Some of the vehicles had their windscreens smashed by bricks.

A Cleveland Police spokesman said: "This is an extremely dangerous thing to do and it is fortunate that we haven't had any serious accidents or even fatalities following these incidents.

"To those responsible I would say, you may think this is a bit of a prank but it is something we take extremely seriously.

"I would urge anyone who knows who is responsible to contact police as quickly as possible."
