Man dies after assault outside Middlesbrough pub

A man who was seriously injured when he was attacked outside a Middlesbrough pub has died.

The man, in his early 40s and from Middlesbrough, suffered a head injury outside the Grenadier pub, in Trimdon Avenue, early on Sunday.

He was taken to James Cook University Hospital but died later. A post-mortem examination is due to be held later.

Two men, aged 20 and 31, have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
