A man who was found with serious injuries outside a County Durham pub has died in hospital.

Anthony Hancock, 42, of Woodhouse Close estate in Bishop Auckland, was discovered on the pavement outside the Beehive pub on Saturday night.

Durham Police said the father of three was pronounced dead at Middlesbrough's James Cook Hospital on Wednesday.

A force spokeswoman said a 32-year-old local man was due before magistrates later charged with manslaughter.

A post-mortem examination was due to be carried out later.

Police have appealed for anyone who was in or near the Beehive pub on Saturday evening to contact them.
