Redcar parking: Underground plan proposed

  • Published

An underground car park has been proposed for Redcar as part of the town's multi million-pound regeneration scheme.

The local said that the public had expressed concern over a planned multi-storey facility.

Instead, the new parking facilities would be hidden away underneath buildings.

The £31m regeneration project aims to create new leisure, business support and community facilities.

Councillor Mark Hannon, cabinet member for economic development, said: "During the election we spoke with many people about the scheme and it was evident that there were concerns about the proposed car park.

"The new council has listened and we are proposing solutions by working with residents and the architects."
