Teenager arrested after truck crash in Darlington
A teenager is in custody after a Ford Transit truck crashed into the garden wall of a house in Darlington.
He was seen driving the flat bed truck at 0300 BST on Wednesday morning and was followed by police for 15 minutes.
Police tried to use a Stinger device to stop the vehicle, which eventually crashed into a wall and metal fencing of a property on Staindrop Road.
The 18-year-old driver fled the scene but was later arrested for drinking and driving and failing to stop.
Ch Insp Andy Huddleston, of Durham Police, said: "This was a difficult and potentially dangerous pursuit.
"The officers involved had to work extremely hard to ensure no members of the public were injured and ultimately bring the incident to a safe conclusion."
