Two roundabouts replaced on A66 in Redcar

Work to try to cut congestion on one of Teesside's busiest roads is due to start.

As part of a £2.2m scheme, two roundabouts on the A66 in Redcar will be removed and replaced by four-way crossroads.

The work, at the Normanby Road, and Eston Road and Church Lane junctions, will mostly take place overnight to keep disruption to a minimum.

Roads will also be resurfaced when the five-month project begins on Monday.

Councillor Mark Hannon, Cabinet Member for Economic Development, said: "Once the project has been completed, we will see a stretch of road that will reduce congestion at peak times, as well as being safer for cyclists, pedestrians and the local community."
