Parents pay tribute to daughter killed in Redcar

The parents of a woman who was killed when she was hit by a taxi in Redcar, have described her as a "loyal friend".

Cleveland Police said Kirsty Fennon was crossing the Coast Road between Redcar and Marske in the early hours of Friday when she was hit by a taxi.

The 19-year-old of York Road, Redcar, died at the scene.

Her parents Peter and Alison, said they were "absolutely overwhelmed" by the amount of messages and tributes that have been paid to their daughter.

They said: "It is apparent that in her short life she has touched many people's hearts.

"Kirsty was the most loyal friend that anyone could have wished for and she will be sadly missed by everyone."

Police said the 45-year-old taxi driver, arrested shortly after the crash, has been bailed pending further inquiries.
