Passenger dies in three-car A66 crash

A passenger has died in a three-car crash on a main road on Teesside.

The 53-year-old man was in a car involved in the collision with two others on the A66 eastbound carriageway at 22:30 BST on Wednesday.

The driver and another passenger in the car suffered multiple injuries, not thought to be life-threatening, and two other drivers sustained minor injuries.

The A66 was shut between the Durham Tees Valley Airport and Elton turn-offs, near Stockton, until 04:00 BST.

Cleveland Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash to contact them.
