Pony is stabbed in neck in Middlesbrough

A pony has suffered a stab wound to its neck in Middlesbrough.

The brown and white coloured female pony was on grassland between the Magnet Public House and St David's Road in the Grangetown area of the town.

Police believe the incident took place between 23:00 BST on Thursday and 09:00 BST on Friday. It is believed the wound could have been caused by a pen knife.

The pony is recovering but is in good health. Police are asking for anyone with information to contact them.
