Funding chance for Hartlepool sports clubs

Sports clubs and groups in Hartlepool have been invited to bid for cash to help get people more active.

Grants of up to £10,000 are available through the Community Activities Network, a partnership of local organisations that promote and provide sporting opportunities in the town.

Groups must show their project fills a gap in local sporting provision and is sustainable once the funding has ended.

The deadline for applications is 10 September.

Daniel Garthwaite, Hartlepool Council's assistant recreation officer, said: "This money will be fantastic for those clubs and organisations that have great ideas but cannot afford to take it further.

"The funding will not only help ideas become reality but it will also open opportunities for many people which will promote their area of sports."
