Missing Teesside prisoner Bernard Sharkey found

A prisoner who absconded while doing community work on Teesside was recaptured on Sunday.

The search for Bernard Sharkey started on 23 August when he was last seen carrying out community work at Newham Grange Farm in Coulby Newham.

He was serving an indeterminate sentence at HMP Kirklevington Grange, near Yarm, for making threats to kill and possessing an offensive weapon.

The 34-year-old was arrested at a caravan park in North Yorkshire.

Cleveland Police said he had been arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class A drug and possession of an offensive weapon.
