Woman raped after night out in Middlesbrough

A 20-year-old woman has been raped on Teesside, police have said.

It happened at about 02:20 BST on Wednesday between Green Lane and Parkfield Avenue in Tollesby, Middlesbrough.

It is believed the woman got into a taxi outside The Keys on Linthorpe Road with a male at about 01:30 BST.

He is described as white, taller than 5ft 5ins, of medium build and with short dark hair. He was wearing a grey top, jeans and white trainers.

Det Sgt Clark Graham, of Middlesbrough CID, said: "From our inquiries so far, we know that the victim and the man headed in the direction of Linthorpe Road.

"We believe that they may have got into a taxi together. If you think that you may have been the driver of that taxi, then we need to hear from you.

"We also know that when the victim and the man were on Southfield Road, there was a member of the public standing outside Al Forno's Restaurant.

"He could be a potential witness and could provide us with information which could assist our investigation.

"We would like to speak to him and also to any other person who thinks that they may have information which could help us."
