A blaze at a Stockton furniture shop has left it at risk of collapsing and caused the road it is on to be closed.

The fire at Godwin's Furniture and Bed Centre on Norton Road destroyed the property - three three-story buildings which had been knocked into one.

It started just before 17:00 BST on Tuesday and more than 40 firefighters took eight hours to put it out.

Investigations into how the fire started will be carried out by Cleveland's fire service and police.

Norton Road will remain closed between Bone Street and Hume Street while the building is made safe.
