Darlington recycling plant fire still burning

More than 40 firefighters tackled a blaze involving 5,000 tonnes of rubbish at a Darlington recycling plant.

Crews from County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue were called to Albert Hill Industrial Estate, at about 19:00 BST on Saturday.

At the height of the blaze, water was pumped from the River Skerne and smoke could be seen for miles around.

The fire service said the blaze was under control earlier, but it was continuing to burn.
