A new visitor centre being built at an historic hall on Teesside will create 40 new jobs.

Stockton Borough Council has approved a £4m investment at Wynyard Hall in Stockton to create a new rose garden, visitor centre and cookery school.

The project is expected to take two years to complete, the council said.

Councillor Michael Smith said it would follow "conservation standards" to ensure the preservation of the site.
