Two arrested over Saltersgill spade attack

Two people have been arrested over a "horrific" spade attack which saw the victim lose part of his nose.

The 50-year-old man was left with severe facial injuries after being hit in Saltersgill, Middlesbrough on Sunday.

The man's nose was "partially amputated", Cleveland Police said.

A force spokeswoman said a man and woman, both aged 36, had been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and criminal damage.

The woman has since been bailed.
