Michael Outhwaite death: Daniel Oxley in court over Willington murder

A man has appeared in court charged with murder after a man was found stabbed to death in a field in County Durham.

Michael Outhwaite, 42, was found dead behind Willington High Street, near Crook, at about 01:00 BST on Friday.

Post-mortem tests showed Mr Outhwaite, from Sunderland, died from stab wounds.

Daniel Oxley, 22, from Murton, was remanded in custody until Wednesday following a brief appearance before magistrates in Peterlee.

No plea was entered and there was no application for bail.
