Middlesbrough crash leaves man dead and girl injured

A man has died and a teenager is in a critical condition in hospital after a crash in Middlesbrough.

The two-car collision happened at about 19:30 GMT on Tuesday on Cass House Road at the junction with Fordyce Road.

Andrew Corfield, 39, from the Hemlington area, was pronounced dead at the scene. His female passenger, 17, is in a critical condition in hospital.

An 18-year-old man, who was driving the second car, has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Cleveland Police said the man remains in custody. He has been arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, causing death by dangerous driving and failing to report the collision.
