Middlesbrough boy, four, in critical condition after taxi hit

Police are trying to find an ice cream van driver who may have seen a four-year-old boy being hit by a taxi in Middlesbrough.

The boy is in a critical condition in the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle after suffering serious head and internal injuries.

He was struck by a Skoda Octavia taxi at 17:20 on Sunday on Cotswold Avenue.

Cleveland Police believe the ice cream van driver, which was in the same street, may hold key information..
