Labour misses control of a Teesside council by three votes

Labour has missed out on taking control of a Teesside council by just three votes.

It needed to pick up all three seats in Redcar and Cleveland's Skelton ward to hold a majority with 30.

After a series of recounts, Conservative Cliff Foggo took the final seat earlier with 1,044 votes to Ian Taylor's 1,041.

No party has overall control with Labour now holding 29 seats and opposition parties 30.

The Liberal Democrats have 11, the Conservatives 10 with one for UKIP and eight independent councillors.
