Girl, 16, raped at Tyneside Metro station

A 16-year-old girl has been raped at a Tyne and Wear Metro station in North Shields, police have said.

Officers were called following reports of the attack at Meadowell Metro station just before midnight on Friday.

Police want to trace a man believed to be about 25-years-old who was on platform one at the station at the time.

He is described as being about 5ft 8in (1.72m) tall, of slim build, and wearing a white baseball cap and jeans.

The man was last seen in the underpass heading in the direction of Bridge Road just before midnight.
