Man bailed over fatal Teesside family road crash

A man who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving after a Teesside mother and daughter were killed on the A1 has been bailed.

Joanne Richardson, 40, and her daughter Mya, six, of Billingham, were killed in a crash in Newcastle on Sunday night.

Her partner, 37, who was driving the family's black Jaguar, and their 10-week-old daughter, had minor injuries.

A 61-year-old man from Blyth was released on bail until October, pending further inquiries.

Police said the family's southbound car collided with a red Jaguar travelling the wrong way on the road.
