Man charged over Newcastle Quayside rape

A 46-year-old man has been charged with rape after a woman was attacked on Tyneside at the weekend.

Police were called following reports of the attack, which happened in the Quayside area of Newcastle in the early hours of Saturday.

Northumbria Police arrested and later charged a man in connection with the rape.

He appeared before Newcastle magistrates on Wednesday and was committed to Crown Court on 25 August.
