Man charged in connection with Hebburn shooting

A man has been charged in connection with an inquiry into a shooting in South Tyneside.

The 24-year-old was arrested in South Shields, in connection with the shooting of a man in Grasmere Road, Hebburn, on 11 October.

He has now been charged with threats to kill and is due to appear before South Tyneside magistrates on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old shooting victim needed treatment for neck and facial injuries. Nine people have been arrested so far.

Just after the shooting, six people were arrested on suspicion of a series of offences including attempted murder and drug offences.

All have been released on bail.

A 27-year-old man and 19-year-old woman, arrested on Sunday on suspicion of assisting an offender, have now been bailed.
