Driver arrested over fatal crash on North Tyneside

The driver of a car which crashed, killing a teenage passenger, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Police said the Ford Fiesta came off the road at Dudley Lane, Seaton Burn, on Tuesday night, hitting a brick planter and a road sign.
A 19-year-old male who was a front-seat passenger, died at the scene. Another 19-year-old passenger was badly hurt.
The 19-year-old male driver suffered minor injuries and was later arrested.
Police have appealed for witnesses.
