A 19-year-old man who died after the car he was travelling in crashed in North Tyneside, has been identified.
Jamie Douglas Watters, of Cramlington, died when the car came off the road and hit a low brick wall and road sign in Dudley Lane, Seaton Burn on Tuesday.
A man, aged 19, was treated for minor injuries at hospital and then arrested and bailed on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Police said a second car had been travelling in convoy with the group.
They believe it travelled with the group in the Ford Fiesta along a stretch of Dudley Lane between the cemetery and Seaton Burn High School.
The rear seat passenger in the Ford Fiesta - also a 19-year-old man - suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries and was taken to Newcastle General Hospital.
Police are appealing for witnesses.
