Indecent assault on woman walking home in Newcastle

A woman was indecently assaulted and robbed as she walked home from Newcastle city centre.

Two men approached the 30-year-old on Studley Terrace at 0400 GMT on Saturday.

One pushed her to the ground and stole her handbag and the other indecently assaulted her before she kicked him. He went into Nuns Moor Park.

A 47-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery and released on police bail.

Northumbria Police said they were trying to establish whether the attack was linked to a woman being robbed in Richardson Road early on Friday.

They said there were extra police patrols in the area and the city centre.
